KEI SLAUGHTER
kei slaughter [pronouns: they/them] is a Soul-Folk Sonic Storyteller conjuring bokou ancestral magik from deep New Orleans roots. A Queer Black Gender Non-Conforming Vocalist, Flutist, Songwriter, Composer, Sound Healer, and Multi-Instrumentalist, kei brings a dynamic energy to every stage they touch. kei's music is soulful, genre-expansive, and inherently healing, weaving a blend of (neo)soul, folk, and other styles with rich storytelling, incredible artistry, and powerful medicine.

kei grew up in a musical family, harmonizing hymns around the Sunday dinner table while singing and preaching in the Black Church. Their early influences begin here and carry forward to artists like Me'shell Ndegeocello, Lianne La Havas, and Krystle Warren, to name a few. A versatile musician and shapeshifter, kei plays piano, guitar, and is especially celebrated for their funky flute-playing and gospel powerhouse vocals. kei has performed and collaborated with notable artists/projects, both locally and beyond. kei's debut release, Dark Fire (2017), is available now. JOY CLARK
Joy Clark’s musical artistry feels like a warm, fresh twist on the fervently familiar. Her tranquil yet ardent original creations are a heady mix of her major influences. Think Tracy Chapman, Lizz Wright, Maxwell, Anita Baker, Stevie Nicks and Chris Eaton. Now add a bluesy bayou vibe with a splash of folk sensibility and a dash of alternative appeal, and you’ll understand why this homegrown New Orleans guitarist, singer and songwriter transcends both age and the ordinary.

Having studied her self-taught craft since the age of 12, Joy truly embodies the bliss that comes with creating melodies and rhythms to celebrate peace and the undeniable power of love. Her music is often described as the essence of ease, upliftment, self-affirmation and sensitivity. It’s no wonder that she quickly rose to critical acclaim as a founding member of the now disbanded Soulkestra. Joy has performed with Water Seed and living-legend Cyril Neville and continues to enchant audiences throughout the Southern United States and around the world.
